The Batur natural hot spring at Toya Bungkah is the warm end of a cold morning. Here are its water, its own price list, its rules and the tours that put a soak after the sunrise.

Key points in a row
The spring sits at Toya Bungkah on the shore of Lake Batur. The operator's own page explains the name: toya means water and bungkah means a large block of stone, so the place is literally water from among big rocks.4 It says the spring keeps a constant temperature of 38 to 40 degrees Celsius, formed by post-caldera volcanic activity of Mount Batur.1 The water is the reason many people end their sunrise morning here.
UNESCO's geopark page lists the thermal waters at Lake Batur as one of the geopark's highlights, next to the sunrise hike and the subak irrigation system.5 It also says the volcano is surrounded by Lake Batur and its geothermal hot springs.6 The hot water is part of the same volcanic system as the cone you climb, which turns the soak into an extension of the hike's story.
Contrast makes the experience. The lake itself is cool, with a water temperature between 22.8 and 26.6 degrees Celsius, according to the geopark's own website.7 Guides on the mountain add that summit temperatures can fall below 15 degrees.8 Moving from cold air into water of 38 to 40 degrees is a sensation you remember, and it makes the soak a natural last stop.1

Toya Bungkah has more than one place to bathe. Batur Natural Hot Spring describes itself as a community-based tourism project, a collective asset of the village, managed since the local village council restructured the area between 2007 and 2009.9,10 Its own site says the spring sits in the outer courtyard of Pura Tirta Mas Bungkah, a holy temple protected by local custom.11
That sacred setting is worth taking seriously. Dress modestly on the way in, keep voices down and treat the pools as shared village property rather than a waterpark. The operator explains that the majority of the revenue funds major religious ceremonies in the village, so your ticket supports the way the place has been kept going.9
Next door in the same area, the Toya Devasya hot spring at Lake Batur belongs to a resort that lists a hot spring with eight natural pools and an Olympic-sized pool.12 It says its pools undergo daily drainage and maintenance.13 These are different businesses with different tickets, so check which one your tour is taking you to before you pack, and ask the guide whether the stop is a quick dip or a longer visit.
The spring publishes its regular package by visitor group. International visitors pay IDR 200,000 per adult and IDR 100,000 per child, while domestic visitors pay IDR 70,000 per adult and IDR 35,000 per child.2,14 Every ticket includes full access to all pools, locker use and towel service.3 Those are rupiah amounts as the operator states them, and they can change.
The same page says regular tickets can be booked in advance without a down payment and are paid on site.17 It also says the spring accepts ticket purchases only directly at the counter and by WhatsApp, and that it is not affiliated with third-party platforms.18 That is useful to know if you are comparing an entry-only ticket against a tour that includes a soak.
When a tour bundles the soak, read what the listing says it includes before you assume the entry fee is covered. Our hike-plus-spring listing shows the hot spring as a stop of 2 hours in its itinerary. If the entry fee matters to your budget, ask the operator in writing, and keep the answer on your phone on the morning.

Driver-guide for your party
The listing for a guided hike plus a natural hot spring lays the day out in blocks: a car ride of 2 hours, the hike and sunrise of 4 hours, the hot spring of 2 hours and a car ride back of 2 hours. It lists pickups from 1:30 AM in the south Bali resort areas, 2 AM in Sanur and around 2:15 to 2:30 AM in Ubud. The soak arrives mid-morning, when the climb has started to ache.
Jeep versions work too. The shared jeep listing is estimated at 4:30 to 8 am for the jeep part, with the hot spring as an option on top, and it asks you to bring a change of clothes for the soak. The private jeep listing says to pack swimwear and a change of clothes for the hot springs. A day or sunset jeep listing says that choosing the hot spring option moves pickup 2 hours earlier.
Think about what you can handle after a night with little sleep. A soak is relaxing, but a warm pool after an early start can leave you drowsy for the long ride back. Do not plan anything demanding for the afternoon. If you are the driver on your own day, sit out of the water a little before you drive, or take a driver.
A hike and soak morning
From 1:30 AM
Listed pickups run from 1:30 AM in south Bali and about 2:15 to 2:30 AM in Ubud.
The first ride
The listing shows a car ride of 2 hours before the hike.
Pre-dawn to sunrise
The guided hike and sunrise block is 4 hours.
After the summit
The hot spring stop is 2 hours in the listed itinerary.
Mid-morning
The spring keeps a constant 38 to 40 degrees Celsius.1
Then home
The listing shows a car ride back of 2 hours.
The spring's own page says it has numerous pools of running volcanic hot water, some pools at a lower temperature for kids, and slides.16 That makes it one of the easier parts of the morning for a family, since the summit hike suits adults better. Children get a separate, cooler pool rather than the same water as everyone else.
A listing for an entry ticket sets house rules: outside food and drinks are not permitted inside, you should not wear or bring jewelry or other valuables, and the attraction is not wheelchair or stroller accessible. Lockers come with the ticket on the spring's own list, so use them for your phone and wallet and keep a dry bag for wet clothes.3
Hours matter if you go on your own. The listing gives opening hours of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily with last entry at 4:00 PM. A tour that ends the soak in mid-morning is well inside that window, while a day tour that reaches the spring late is not. Check the closing time when you plan a sunset jeep with a soak after it.

The volcano features a 700-meter-tall active stratovolcano within its younger caldera, surrounded by Lake Batur and its geothermal hot springs.
Before you soak
Mount Batur hot springs are not a must for everyone, so it depends on what you value. The hike alone is shorter: our listing runs 5 to 10 hours and starts from $16. The hike plus hot spring runs 7 to 11 hours and starts from $36. You pay more money and hours for the soak, and in return you get a warm end to a cold start and a place to sit down.
A shared jeep with the spring starts from $20 and is listed at 5 to 8 hours, which makes it the cheapest of the sunrise-and-soak listings compared here. A private jeep with the spring starts from $45 and is listed at 5 to 9 hours. The calculator above prices all four for your group and links to each listing.
If you want a soak but not a long day, the jeep listings run shorter than the hike-plus-spring listing. Whatever you pick, book the earliest start the listing allows, so that the soak comes while the morning is still young and you still have the afternoon to recover.
